NPTEL MOOC free certification course: Urbanization and Environment - IIT Kharagpur
|
|
An NPTEL SWAYAM MOOC course on Urbanization and Environment is being offered by Prof Jenia Mukherjee (IIT Kharagpur).
About the Course: COVID 19 has exposed us to the limits of urban trajectories during the Anthropocene, provoking us to reontologize the “urban”, the “environment” and their relationship. In spite of manifold urban environmental challenges at the global level and their local ramifications, one is hopeful to imagine possibilities within the three emerging trends shaping the contemporaneous: - a comprehensive and radical critique of technocratic approaches, strategizing “resilience” as a top-down solution to address urban sustainability
- openness and greater propensity to experiment with inter and transdisciplinary frameworks to capture the urban environmental pluriverse and complexities at scales
- transdisciplinary discourses forging trans-sectoral participation, beyond conventional academics and through multi-modal dissemination formats
Within this transformative context, this course will potentially help urban researchers and practitioners to gain a better grip on emerging urban environmental (social sciences) frameworks along cutting-edge theories and case studies around the globe. By completing this two-credit (eight weeks) course online, researchers, students and practitioners will be able to formalize their academic output through certification gained along flexible learning schedules and options. Finally, constant interactions among the instructor, teaching assistants and course participants through the interactive online forum and live sessions, will be enablers to foster long-term relationships on urban environmental agendas and actions.
